Ashley Biden Confirmed That Melania Trump Hasn’t Reached Out to Jill Biden

Joe Biden's daughter, Ashley Biden, has given her first-ever TV interview ahead of her father's inauguration on Wednesday.

The incoming first daughter sat down with the Today Show's Jenna Bush Hager, a fellow first daughter, to discuss Biden's path to the presidency.

Biden, 39, is the only child of Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden. During the interview, she discussed the "excitement" of learning her father would be president, and opened up about their family's closeness.

"Dad is so empathetic and has the ability to recognize pain, to feel others' pain, and to comfort," she said. "It's also made family his number one. We have a rule still today that no matter where Dad is, no matter what meeting he's in, if one of the kids call, you have to get him out."

Speaking of her parents' relationship, she told Today, "Mom really keeps Dad grounded. She will always remind him to take out the trash. Even this morning, you know, make sure to wash your bowl. Dad loves his Raisin Bran in the morning, and she's like, 'Joe, wash that bowl, don't put it in the sink.'''

Biden also confirmed during the interview that Melania Trump has not reached out to her mother, Jill Biden.

"No, I don't think they're doing the traditional protocol, which is unfortunate, but I think we're all OK with it," she said.

Biden, a social worker and fashion designer, said she will not have an official role in her father's administration, but that she still hoped to use her platform as first daughter to be an advocate.

"I will, however, hopefully use this platform to advocate for social justice, for mental health, to be involved in community development and revitalization," she said. "I do hope to bring awareness and education to some topics, subjects that are really important."
