A Revolution bar in Leeds has told customers they must spend £100 minimum to book a table on May 30 for just one hour.
May 30 is when international friendly football matches take place between Mexico and Iceland as well as Switzerland and USA, meaning the bar is expecting to be busier than usual with longer bookings.
However, potential customers were shocked that the minimum spend is so high.
It seems like the price tag hasn't put off that many people though as, according to Electric Press Revolution Leeds' online booking system, the date requiring the £100 minimum spend is fully booked.
Like many other businesses, the bar chain has struggled with no-shows during the pandemic, causing them to lose out on large sums of money.
So in an attempt to stop this happening, they introduced deposits and minimum spends.
Revolution has bars across the UK, which are all currently accepting bookings that include a deposit to confirm. This deposit will come off the booking when customers arrive.
Customers will be asked for either a 20% deposit or card details at the time of enquiry for tables at the restaurant, for drinks, bottomless brunch and premium booths.
They bar currently states that if, for any reason, the booking cannot go ahead or needs to be cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic (including updated Government restrictions), the bar will do their best to find an alternative date. If they can’t, Revolution will arrange a refund.
The company offers packages which can be pre-booked that meet the minimum spend.
When Leeds Live spoke to Electric Press Revolution Leeds, the company stated during the time they were briefly able to re-open, they experienced large numbers of no show bookings, causing them to lose over a quarter of their available space on weekends.
