With family, friends and all-round festivities on Christmas Day, many of us may find we have empty fridges by December 26. Express.co.uk has compiled when Tesco, Asda, Lidl and Aldi are open on Boxing Day so that you can enjoy a post-Christmas supermarket shop.

Tesco

On Boxing Day, Tesco Extras and Superstores will be open between 9am and 6pm.

The majority of Express stores will be open a little later, from 9am-7pm. Some larger Express stores will close at 6pm.

Shoppers can also check the supermarket’s store locator for information on their nearest Tesco.

Asda

Asda will be open between 9am and 6pm on Boxing Day.

A spokesperson advised that shoppers use the supermarket’s store locator for accurate information on individual stores.

Asda stores will also be open on Tuesday 27 between 8am-8pm, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 normal opening hours, New Year’s Eve 6am-7pm and normal opening hours on New Year’s Day.

Aldi

Aldi shoppers will not be able to pop to this budget supermarket on Boxing Day, as all stores will remain closed.

Aldi will also be shut on New Year’s Day, but will remain open Tuesday December 27-30 (8am-8pm), New Year’s Eve (8am-6pm), Monday Jan 2 (8am-8pm) and Tuesday Jan 3 (8am-10pm).

Use Aldi store finder for accurate information on your local supermarket.

Waitrose

Like Aldi, Waitrose stores across the UK will be closed on Boxing Day. However, certain Shell sites will be open as an exception.

The majority of Waitrose stores will be trading normally between December 27 and New Year’s Eve.

Customers are advised to check the opening times of their nearest supermarket on Waitrose’s branch finder page.

Most major supermarkets have a store finder so customers can check their nearest stores’ opening times:
