The Hawaiian is often seen as a ham and pineapple pizza, but the website swapped out one much loved carb for another.

Controversially, BBC Good Food published a recipe for a 'Hawaiian spaghetti'.

The dish includes the noodle shaped pasta, a cheese sauce, along with the sweet and savoury toppings usually found on top of a pizza.

British meme account No Context Brits, posted a screenshot of the one and a half star reviewed meal to Twitter.

And they certainly had some strong feelings about the matter.

"The BBC have declared war with Italy", they quipped.

Able to serve six mouths, the controversial dish takes less than 30 minutes to prepare and around 10 minutes to cook.

It's described as: "A family-friendly pasta recipe that makes the most of cheap tinned foods.

"If your kids love Hawaiian pizza then this ham and pineapple pasta is a great twist to try for a quick mid-week dinner."

However, many have not seen the dish as friendly at all.

Twitter users poked fun at the meal and even asked for 'peace talks' with Italy.

One person mocked: "This is the end…"

Another user giggled: "Gino [D'Acampo] was found shaking."

While a third slammed: "This is a food crime."

Someone else wailed: "Wasn't putting pineapples on pizza bad enough? Why must you do this to spaghetti?"

Meanwhile, a fifth declared: "Peace talks and de-escalation NOW!"

Let us know in the comments what you think about the 'Hawaiian pasta' – love it or loathe it?
