Chrissy Teigen's Surprise Cornrows Almost Distracted Us From Her Extremely Hectic Jeans

Chrissy Teigen's latest hairstyle is giving us big "first day of school after a family vacation to Jamaica" energy, and honestly, we're still trying to unpack it. On a Friday outing in Beverly Hills, Teigen debuted a fresh set of cornrows that apparently lasted no longer than 24 hours. While this flash-in-the-pan look might seem utterly random, our theory is that her tight braids were put there to distract the world from her extremely hectic jeans.

Teigen's understated The Row coat, black Net-a-Porter mask, and classic Bottega Veneta bag all conspired to deceive us into thinking her outfit was totally tame compared to her hair. Upon closer inspection, however, it became immediately apparent that Teigen was wearing her jeans in a previously unknown-to-man fashion. Her faded black Agolde jeans featured a criss-cross button fastening, which gave them a wrap-around effect (perhaps evoking a sarong, another takeaway from her tropical trip?). What's more (and of course there had to be more), Teigen went ahead and cinched the bottoms of the jean legs by encircling them with the extra-long laces on her white Attico heels. The idea, we suppose, to make sure she was at least attached to her pants on one end.

For all of the chaos happening on Teigen's legs in this look, we will admit the off-kilter button trend has been cropping up on jeans everywhere lately. While some fans of the style, like Chrissy herself, are achieving the look by shopping a pair from one of many brands currently producing it, others are adding versatility to their existing wardrobe with an $8 Amazon hack made famous by TikTok that lets them try this style on any pair of baggy jeans.

The trick is simple: Take one of these pins disguised as a copper or silver button, affix it to your waistband, and loop your button hole over it for a tighter or asymmetrical fit. Chrissy Teigen's ankle ties, as a next step, are merely optional. Shop the $8 Amazon hack, plus a handful of asymmetrical button jeans, below.
