Courteney Cox Reunites With Johnny McDaid After 9 Months Apart Due To COVID-19

After nine long months apart, Courteney Cox, 56, has reunited with her Irish beau Johnny McDaid, 44. On Wednesday, the Friends actress shared a pic to her Instagram Story of the two. In the photo, Cox is cuddled up to McDaid as they take a walk. The pair couple can be seen smiling in the shot, which Cox captioned with “Into the woods…”

The pic is the couple’s first publicly shared image since they were separated nine months ago due to COVID-19 quarantines and restrictions. Last month, they released a video in support of Ráth Mór Creggan, a charity in the Irish community of Creggan. Prior to their reunion, Cox revealed on The Vinyl Supper With Foy Vance that McDaid “left and the next day the whole country was shut down.”

“He was supposed to go to Switzerland to write. He went to England first, then all of the sudden they called quarantine,” she said in May during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I have not seen him in so long. You don’t realize — I mean, we spend a lot of time on FaceTime — now it’s like, ‘Oh my god, I just miss his physical touch.’ It’s been hard. This is the longest time.”

Cox began dating the Snow Patrol band member in late 2013. The couple announced their engagement in June 2014 but called it off soon afterward. The actress has previously dated rock promoter Ian Copeland, actor Michael Keaton, and singer Adam Duritz of Counting Crows. From 1999 to 2013, she was married to fellow Scream actor David Arquette. The couple have a daughter together named Coco, born in June 2004.

McDaid lives in London and divides his time between the UK and the US, where Cox lives. A member of the band Snow Patrol and Vega4, the musician has written songs with other artists including Ed Sheeran, P!nk and Robbie Williams. In 2017, he had his first hit after co-writing Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” with Sheeran and Steve Mac. The song went to number 1 in the UK and the US and remained number 1 in the UK for four weeks.
