“America’s Most Wanted” star John Walsh is ready to catch New York City’s most dangerous “dirtbags” on his upcoming season of “In Pursuit with John Walsh,” and says he wants to lower the crime rate.

Walsh is currently filming the third season of the crime show, and he told his ID boss Henry Schleiff that he’s ready “to stop all the dirtbags that are committing crimes” in NYC and around the country.

“We can do it. New York is stronger than ever. Just because we were in a pandemic doesn’t mean that crime wasn’t happening. Now that we are returning to normal, it is our job not to give up and get justice for those who can’t get justice for themselves,” he said.

Walsh famously began his fight hunting down criminals as creator and host of “America’s Most Wanted” in 1988 after his son, Adam, was kidnapped and murdered. The show was canceled in 2012, but Schleiff convinced Walsh to step of retirement in 2019 to co-host “In Pursuit” with his son Callahan.

We’re told the duo hand-picked 15 criminals to feature this season, and that they’re the “worst of the worst” who are still at large, according to an insider.

Meanwhile, Fox relaunched “America’s Most Wanted” with ABC News vet Elizabeth Vargas this year and they stuck to Walsh’s playbook. In fact, insiders are mum on specific cases “In Pursuit” will cover this season out of concern “America’s Most Wanted” will copy the stories.

“After all, [Walsh] created it, so it makes sense they’d want his fingerprints on it somehow. It speaks to his legacy, but there are plenty of other criminals out there ” the insider said.

The new season will premiere on discovery + later this year.
