A young dad has been slated by a group of mums after he shared a picture of his toddler's lunchbox in a Facebook parenting group.

The man said he prepares his little girl's lunch every day and likes to change things up regularly.

On this day, he decided to pack her spaghetti, dried broccoli, blackberries and lentil chips for her lunch.

"She sometimes eats it all but we try new things to see what will catch on with her," he said.

However, some mums weren't very impressed with the lunchbox contents – especially the cold spaghetti.

"Curious about the spaghetti, do you warm it up in the morning so it is room temp by lunch time or is it just cold?" one mum asked.

While another wrote: "If we want real equality, we should post same judgy comments as if it was a mum packing the lunch, not some pretend-to-be-nice with 'does the pasta stay warm in this box?' questions. We all know it doesn't! Kidding good job dad! But do buy a thermos for that pasta."

Others told him he should have filled the empty space in the bento box with a treat.

"Her little dessert circle is missing something," one noted said.

"Come on dad, at least some chocolate chips or something," wrote another.

However, the dad replied by saying he and his wife thought there was already enough sugar in the fruit without an additional sweet item.

He also addressed the cold spaghetti, saying: "Her old preschool used to warm it up for her but her current one doesn't. I tried sending this along and it wasn't eaten. So no luck with her liking cold spaghetti."

Others wanted to know about the dried broccoli and lentil chips.

The dad did admit he would prefer if she ate fresh broccoli, however added: "If she eats it in this shape then I will call it a win."

Some mums defended the dad, who is one of few men who have posted their kids' lunches in the mum-driven group.

"This looks much healthier than some of the school lunches I have seen," one remarked.

The snap comes after another kids' lunchbox hit headlines this week, as experts said it should be 'ringing alarm bells' for parents.

The lunchbox, which contained ham white bread sandwiches, crackers, a fruit roll up and a chocolate yogurt, could be doing more harm that good, according to nutrition experts.
