Dean McDermott feared he would be put on a ventilator due to severe COVID-19 symptoms.

“I’ve got to be honest, this scared the s–t out of me,” the Canadian actor, 55, admitted in a post shared to Instagram. “My breathing was so compromised I thought I was going to be put on a ventilator.”

He added, “Slowly turning the corner to recovery. Be safe out there.”

McDermott accompanied his post with a photo of himself playing ice hockey.

“This is the first place I’m going once I get over COVID!!” he exclaimed.

News of McDermott’s COVID-19 diagnosis comes shortly after he revealed he was bed-ridden on New Year’s Eve due to contracting pneumonia over the holidays.

“Happy New Year Everyone!!! I’m down but not out!! Pneumonia sucks,” he captioned a selfie-style video posted to his Instagram at the time. “I’m not going to let it dampen my spirits!! I hope your 2022 is full of love, light and prosperity. Much love to you all.”

A week later, McDermott’s wife, Tori Spelling, revealed that their “entire” family recently tested positive for COVID-19.

“I share a lot on social media but this is one thing I didn’t want to share,” the “90210” star, 48, began her lengthy Instagram explanation.

“Our entire family has COVID. Yes, every single member got it. We all have varying degrees of symptoms. I was last to be symptomatic. We all were praying it was just a bad winter cold. But it wasn’t.”

Spelling confessed to feeling “devastated” and “useless as a parent” upon discovery of the positive tests.

“Nothing is worse than wanting to care for your little ones but feeling so sick you can barely function yourself,” she explained. “A mom is supposed to take care of their kiddos when sick. That’s how it works. But, we are all getting thru this together.”

She continued, “If I’m not responding please understand. Give me some time. We are right in the thick of it. For reference : This post took 45 min of starting and stopping to write. 😷#covidsucks.”

Spelling and McDermott have been noticeably absent from each other’s social media posts as of late amid split rumors. The two share five children together: Liam, 14, Stella, 13, Hattie, 10, Finn, 9, and Beau, 4.
