Your yearly MOT may not be the biggest expense on the books, but it’s not cheap and it is necessary.
Luckily, you can bag a deal at Halfords where motorists can get an MOT worth £40 for just a quid until mid-April.
The retailer is having a mega deal which gives customers a free MOT as long as they buy any item in store.
Which is great news if you need some cleaner fluid or a new kickstand for your bike.
If you don’t particularly need much, well you can always buy this sponge which costs just £1.
The you can book in for an MOT at one of the 350 Halford Autocentres for the cheap deal price.
In order to get the deal you need to buy something in store or online by April 19.
Then, you’ll be emailed a voucher – automatically if you’re shopping online or ask the cashier in store.
The voucher should arrive in your inbox within seven days and will contain a unique code.
You’ll need to take this code and go to the Halford’s site – click on the menu and select the MOT tab.
Choose the option worth £39.85 and book a slot at your local centre.
When you get to the checkout put your unique code into the promo code box to get your free MOT.
You can redeem the code up until May 21 – and can book your MOT for anytime until November 21.

The cheapest alternative MOT right now looks to be the £20 option at Kwik Fit which is available from April 1 until the end of the month.
The deal comes at a great time too as drivers could face a massive fine if they don’t renew their MOT after the six month extension ended last month.
Due to the pandemic, motorists were given an extra six months to get their cars checked out.
But, as of February 1 those with expired MOTs will face a £1,000 fine.
