Good quality washing-up products don't come cheap – but you can save up by making your very own.

If you regularly buy tangerines or lemons, don't be too quick to throw away their netted bags as they can be turned into scourers.

You can also save money on expensive and toxic oven cleaners.

All you have to do is mix 1/2 cup of liquid dish soap with 1 1/2 cups of baking soda and 1/4 cup of white vinegar.

Make it into a paste and dab around the inside of your oven with an old toothbrush or abrasive sponge then let it sit overnight.

You will be amazed at how clean your oven will be when you wipe away the paste the following day with a sponge and clean water.

Bedroom

Although we are nearing autumn, forecasts suggest temperatures will still be hitting higher than 20C this month, keeping many up at night.

One TikToker went viral during the summer when he showed off his simple yet effective way to stay cool during a hot night.

He bought a pair of cooling mats for pets, placed them in his bed and slept on top of his new bizarre purchase.

To keep your bed looking smart, try spraying it with a mixture of one cup of water, a teaspoon of fabric softener and a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol.

It will act as a fabric crease release spray, and save you having to fork out.

In addition to that, there's a perfect hack for those who find their bedroom floor cluttered with shoes and clothes.

You can free up some space by using the back of your bedroom or closet door.

Simply get an over the door storage for your shoes and any other items for as little as £4.

Bathroom

If you're bored of your bland, white tiles, you don't need to fork out on thousands to change it up.

Stick-on tiles are the perfect alternative as you can peel them off at any time and they can be bought for as cheap as £20.

And if you've ever spent a Sunday morning tiredly scrubbing those tiles clean, there's a genius way to speed it up.

Use dish soap or viakal in a washing up wand to clean your tiles, shower, and bath.

It gets the job done but most importantly, saves you a lot of time and effort.

Hallway

To make the most out of your hallway, add an exciting lighting fixture without going over your budget.

You can save yourself a whopping thousands on rewiring and plastering by picking up a puck bulb in a fitted sconce.

They will give your hallway a touch of sophistication and can be purchased on Amazon for as little as £12.

Utility room

Another great way to free up some cash is to wash your clothes at a lower temperature.

Using 30 degrees over 40 means you will be saving yourself £12 over the course of a year.
