eBay bans sale of Queen’s Lying-in-State wristbands after bids reach thousands of pounds | The Sun

ONLINE retailer eBAY is removing listings of wristbands given to people queuing to see the Queen lying in state.

Some people have sought to cash in by selling the bands, which have attracted bids of several thousand pounds on eBay before being removed.


The Sun checked eBay this morning (Monday, September 19), and sawone wristband on sale for £25,000.

Another listing had six bids, with the highest coming in at £8,099.

An eBay spokesperson said: “These items are against our policies and we are removing them from our site.”

The eBay policy says tickets for things such as concerts, festivals, sports or theatre cannot be listed on the site.

The final mourners paid their respects to the Queen lying in state in Parliament's West Minister Hall this morning.

Since Thursday, hundreds of thousands of members of the public filed past the coffin.

Some bowed, some curtsied, others made the sign of the cross as they paused beside the coffin which was draped in the Royal Standard with the jewels in the Imperial State Crown, sceptre and orb, placed on top.

Crowds of mourners have flocked to London, Windsor and royal sites throughout the UK on the national bank holiday to view the state funeral proceedings.

A number of shops and retailers have closed their doors as a mark of respect for Her Majesty The Queen.

Some supermarkets and petrol stations will be open for part of the day (Monday, September 19) – but they might be on reduced hours.

We've listed all the shops, pubs and restaurants which will remain open on the day of the funeral, plus what times they'll open at.

Three of the UK's largest pub chains, including Wetherspoons, have announced their venues will stay open for the Queen's funeral.

McDonald's will close all of its restaurants as a mark of respect on the day of the Queen's funeral until 5pm.
