Everything You Need to Know About 'Marry Me' Starring Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez in a comic-book movie? While it's no action-packed Marvel epic, Marry Me is based on a graphic novel by Bobby Crosby. It also marks Lopez's return to her rom-com roots, though parts of this movie seem to be pulled straight from her own life. Originally slated to be released on February 12, 2021, the movie got pushed a few times because of the COVID-19 pandemic before landing on a (hopefully) more solid date. Here's everything you need to know about Lopez's next flick, from who she'll be starring with (she's not the only major name attached) to a little peek into what to expect.

Who is in the cast?

Jennifer Lopez is headlining alongside superstar singer Maluma and Owen Wilson. Lopez will be playing Kat Valdez, a world-famous musician, and Owen Wilson plays Charlie Gilbert, a math teacher. In his feature film debut, Maluma will play Bastian, Valdez's boyfriend. Together, they're one of the hottest, most powerful couples around. When she finds out he's cheating on her, she decides to marry Gilbert because he's holding up a sign at her concert that says, well, "Marry Me." Expect plenty of hijinks and shenanigans to happen from there. Sarah Silverman and Big Little Lies's Chloe Coleman also star in the movie.

What about the soundtrack?

With Lopez and Maluma getting top billing, fans can expect plenty of new songs in the movie. There's the title track, "Marry Me," along with a slew of other songs ready to get stuck in your head. The already-released tracks "Pa' Ti" and "Lonely" are in the movie, too.

Is there a trailer for Marry Me?

Universal released a teaser trailer in late 2020. Since the movie keeps getting pushed, there hasn't been an official trailer — yet.

What is the release date for Marry Me?

After being postponed and postponed again, fans save the date: February 11, 2022. Barring another major delay, that's when the flick should hit theaters.

Who’s behind the camera for the movie?

Kat Coiro, from FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Netflix's Dead to Me, is directing. John Rogers (TNT's The Librarians), Tami Sagher (NBC's 30 Rock), and Harper Dill (Fox's The Mick) adapted the story from a graphic novel by Bobby Crosby. Lopez is also co-producing the movie alongside her Hustlers team, Benny Medina and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (who also produced Maid in Manhattan).
