Giovanni Ribisi, Colin Hanks, Dan Fogler Join Making of ‘Godfather’ Series at Paramount Plus

Paramount Plus is building out the cast of the upcoming series “The Offer,” which tells the story of the making of “The Godfather,” with the additions of  Giovanni Ribisi, Colin Hanks, and Dan Fogler.

The trio join previously announced stars Miles Teller and Matthew Goode. “The Offer” is based on the experience of Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy (Teller), about the behind-the-scenes events of the original 1972 film. Goode will play producer Robert Evans.

Ribisi is set to star as mob boss Joe Colombo. In addition to running one of the notorious Five Families of the American Mafia, Colombo also founded the Italian-American Civil Rights League. The League originally opposed the making of “The Godfather” before Ruddy met with Colombo and secured his support.

Ribisi most recently worked on the Netflix series “On the Verge” and starred in the Amazon series “Sneaky Pete.” He is best known for his feature roles, which include “Avatar,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “The Virgin Suicides,” “Boiler Room,” “Cold Mountain,” and “Public Enemies.”

He is repped by CAA, Linden Entertainment, and Hansen Jacobson.

Hanks will play Barry Lapidus, a Gulf & Western executive with a lot of power over Paramount Pictures. Hanks’ TV roles include the CBS comedy “Life in Pieces,” “Dexter,” and “Fargo,” with the last show earning him an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a miniseries. On the film side, Hanks is known for starring in “Orange County,” “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” and “King King.”

He is repped by UTA, MGMT Entertainment and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver Thompson, LLP.

Fogler will star as Francis Ford Coppola, the legendary director who helmed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Mario Puzo. Fogler most recently appeared on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” as well as ABC’s “The Goldbergs.” His film roles include the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise, “Fanboys,” and “Balls of Fury.”

He is repped by UTA and Management 360.

“The Offer” will be written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano, who will also serve as showrunner, with Michael Toklin having created the series and also executive producing. Teller and Ruddy will executive produce along with Leslie Grief. Dexter Fletcher will direct the first and last block of episodes in addition to executive producing. Paramount Television Studios will produce.
