Yup, they got it on.

A super-sized ensemble of 2021 Grammy nominees performed a tribute to Motown master Marvin Gaye on Sunday.

The Gaye salute was in honor of the 50th anniversary of “Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology),” the socially conscious statement from his classic “What’s Going On” LP that resonates just as much today as it did a half-century ago.

Among those participating in the performance were R&B singer Ledisi, rocker Grace Potter, Brazilian artist Bebel Gilberto, Maroon 5 keyboardist (and solo artist) PJ Morton and, as if that weren’t enough, the Afro-Peruvian Jazz Orchestra.

Released on May 20, 1971, “What’s Going On” was ranked No. 1 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time last year.

Sadly, this tribute comes 37 years after Gaye — on the day before his 45th birthday — was murdered in 1984 by his father while trying to break up a domestic dispute between his parents.

But his masterpiece, his music will live on forever.
