How to do the eagle with a broken wing sex position

Ah, Love Island. The show that’s always here to educate and inform us.

While we may not have needed to know that this year’s contestants’ main requirement for a life partner is ‘blonde’, we’re always appreciative of the lessons the ITV2 series teaches us about sex.

You might remember back in the good old days of 2019, when Curtis Pritchard drew our attention to the eagle sex position.

Now, two years on, Love Island’s Faye Winter has introduced us to a twist on what’s now a classic bedroom move: The eagle with a broken wing.

We’ll be honest: we don’t think this is an officially recognised sex position.

It’s certainly not in the Kama Sutra, and when we explored the eagle’s variants (the spread eagle, the soaring eagle, the exposed eagle, the reverse eagle, the standing eagle, the flying eagle), one with a ‘broken wing’ wasn’t one of the options.

So Faye may go down in history as the coiner of this term. Thanks, Faye.

Handily, she did explain what the sex position is, so we can break it down for you here – so you can then decide whether you want to try it out yourself.

What is the eagle with a broken wing sex position?

So, first, let’s recap your basic eagle position. This is similar to the missionary position, but the person on the bottom has their legs spread up and out to the sides (like wings).

Faye explained that the eagle with a broken wing refers to this same position, but with one leg up and one down.

We think you could easily adapt this to what feels good – try one leg up to the side, the other down flat, or one leg up, the other bent at the knee and relaxed.

The eagle in any form is supposed to be a solid option for deep penetration, offering great stimulation of the G spot or prostate gland.

Putting one leg down won’t drastically change the general concept, but it might tweak the angle, allowing for more interesting sensations, or be a tad easier on your hip flexors.

We’d recommend trying out the eagle for yourself, then testing various wing positions to see which one works best for you. The good news is that all that experimenting should be mighty fun.

Perhaps throw in some coital alignment technique (CAT) too?
