Here’s how you can make a tasty ‘fakeaway’ McChicken sandwich in an air fryer – just like TikTok foodie @kjs_tx

What you’ll need:

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 20g corn flour (+ enough to coat patties)
  • 40g plain flour
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp onion granules
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • 2 tsp English mustard
  • 2 eggs
  • Water
  • Burger buns
  • Mayo
  • Chopped lettuce

Recipe:

1. Blitz one large chicken breast, along with one medium egg and a quarter teaspoon of salt

2. Shape the resulting mix into patties, using wet hands. @kjs_tx says to make them ‘slightly larger than the bun and around 1cm thick’

3. Coat the patties in corn flour on both sides and set to one side

4. In a container, mix together 40g of plain flour, 20g of corn flour, a grind of salt, one teaspoon each of onion and garlic granules, two teaspoons of English mustard and an egg

5. Add 80ml of water to wet the mix slightly

6. Coat the patties in the batter and then, place them into the freezer for one to two hours

7. Air fry the patties at 180C for 12-14 minutes

8. Serve in a warm sandwich bun, with some mayo and chopped lettuce

She then shaped the resulting mix into patties, using wet hands, instructing to make them ‘slightly larger than the  bun and around 1cm thick’.

The patties, which were then coated in corn flour on both sides, can be set to one side while the batter-making process begins.

For this – 40g of plain flour, 20g of corn flour, a grind of salt, one teaspoon each of onion and garlic granules, two teaspoons of English mustard and an egg – were combined in a container.

The thick mix was then slightly diluted with 80ml of water as @kjs_tx used a fork to whisk the ingredients together.

Commenters showed their delight at the recipe, as one claimed that it tasted just ‘like the real deal’

Commenters rushed to praise the recipe, adding that the food looked ‘immaculate’.

‘Tried them last night,’ one user penned. ‘My god they were beautiful thanks for a great recipe.’

‘Top work, will try this soon,’ another added.

A third wrote: ‘Tasted like the real deal, love your TT’s.’

‘Nice recipe, going to try this, thanks,’ a user also said.

However, not everyone was so easily swayed, as some remained loyal to the original – claiming there is ‘nothing like a mc’chicken sandwich’, and suggesting that it is cheaper.
