IKEA is opening a pop-up restaurant in London… and there will be meatballs but it's for a short time only

SWEDISH flat-pack furniture giant IKEA is opening a pop-up restaurant in September –  and it'll be serving all your favourite dishes, including meatballs and hot dogs.

A cafe, shop and DIY dining club will open in Shoreditch next month and will sell customers the Scandinavian cuisine made famous in the store's cafes.

The main space of N&C Showrooms in Shoreditch High Street will be home to the DIY Restaurant and, with the help of an IKEA head chef, punters can host their own dinner parties for up to 20 others.

IKEA's Dining Club explained: "Completely free of charge, the nation’s food-loving entertainers can book their slot to host a brunch, lunch or dinner, where they will take over the restaurant, choosing their menu from a range of modern sharing dishes, including some Scandinavian classics, and will even have the restaurant named after them."

The Dining Club DIY Restaurant will be running from September 10 to 25 and you can book a table by visiting its website.

If you don't fancy going with 20 people, you can book a space on one of the cookery workshops which include a tutorial from @SymmetryBreakfast‘s Michael Zee and a ‘Deliciously Scandi’ workshop with an IKEA chef.
