‘I’m a single mum on benefits – I spend half my income on baby’s designer bling’

A single mum on benefits has admitted she'd 'happily starve' if it meant getting the best designer bling for her baby daughter.

Carrisa Spark, from Dorset, says she spends half of her income on her baby daughter's designer items.

The mum-of-one, who appeared on Blinging Up Baby, is currently studying part-time to become a hairdresser and living on benefits to support herself financially.

And while might use the extra money to help cover their rent or other expenses, Carrisa says she chooses to spend it on dressing her seven-month-old Lavinia in glitter and bling.

"I like a lot of bows, a lot of frills, ribbons, anything sparkly," she said.

The mum, who lives in a rented flat and struggles with £100 a week, says she's willing to go as far as even starving herself just to save some money.

"I've been living off like tin soup, maybe Cup a Soups, packet noodles," she said.

"I always make sure Lavinia's got the things she needs first.

"She's got everything – it's me that goes without things.

"If I had to starve myself to buy her bling, probably would do it."

Whilst some people have told the mum her daughter looks "chavvy and tacky" Carrisa says she doesn't care, as it's the look she likes.

She admits Katie Price is her "biggest influence". However, unlike Katie, Carrisa's daughter's lavish lifestyle and wardrobe have to be carefully managed.

"I try and get her to wear it as much as I can to get my money's worth," says Carissa.

Amongst her daughter's latest designer treats was a baby grow by Lacoste.

For Lavinia's Christening, Carrisa also went all out with a pink dress with ruffles, sparkly gems and, of course, a pacifier which was covered in bling.

"I'm hoping that when I look back at photos with her, she can see how much effort went in and she can see how loved she was," she said.

"People might that's ridiculous – but that's not what I want to do.

"I want to do what I want."
