Inside Britain’s biggest family’s £400 weekly shop – with 16 pints of milk a day

Being a family of 24, the Radfords have a whole host of problems that normal-sized families don’t struggle with as much.

Among them is the weekly shop from Asda – which costs up to a huge £400 every week.

The family feature on tonight’s Channel 5 documentary 22 Kids and Counting and, at one point, the moment their Asda order arrived was caught on camera.

Such is the vast amount of food they need, the delivery driver practically blocks the front door with crates.

As the family each go about transporting the goods to their kitchen, mum Sue explains just how much they consume a week.

“We go through 16 pints of milk a day, two to three loaves of bread.

“If we were having sausages for a meal, we’d have maybe 48-56 sausages.

“We’ve got to get lots more than any average family would need.

“I would say that we spend £350-£400 a week on shopping. It’s just massive, it’s never-ending.”

The family’s food bill has “gone through the roof” during the various national lockdowns over the past few months.

Out of their 22 children, 19 of them still live at home and have been stuck inside the house 24/7 following the closure of schools.

“They’ve eaten us out of house and home,” Sue adds.

The mum-of-22 has previously admitted she has struggled with homeschooling.

Appearing on her YouTube channel, she said: “Tell you what, I will be so glad when homeschooling is finished.

“I don’t know about anybody else but I am just so ready for them to go back to school.

“I am finding it really hard work especially when we’ve got so many to homeschool it’s just not been easy.”

Sue also previously raged after her daughter gave her younger sister a DIY haircut.

On the rare occasion the couple do manage to have the house to themselves, they are quick to make use of it.

For Valentine’s Day, Sue and Noel had a romantic meal together and fans all made the same joke.

22 Kids and Counting starts tonight (February 22) at 9pm on Channel 5.
