In 2015, the press reported that Matthew was the first person Courteney called following her brief split from Snow Patrol singer Johnny McDaid.

A source told Perez Hilton at the time: "It’s no surprise that Matthew was one of the first people Courteney called after Johnny left her. They’ve leaned on each other before.”

Courteney has since rekindled her relationship with the guitarist, while Matthew is currently engaged to 29-year-old literary manager Molly Hurwitz.

Following Friends, the pair stayed dedicated to supporting each other's careers as well as personal lives.

Matthew did his best to support Courteney during her six-season run in Cougar Town, agreeing to play a cameo in the show in a bid to boost ratings.

While Courteney returned the favour by making a guest appearance in Matthew’s show Go On, and both roles were highly marketed appearance of their reunion as a couple.

When Matthew went to rehab in 1997, Courteney stood by him the entire time until he was strong enough to leave.

“I don’t remember three years of [the show],” he previously told Radio 2. “Somewhere between seasons three and six… I was a little out of it."

In 2019 a picture was circulating of a dishevelled Matthew Perry, which prompted questions about his sobriety.

It was Courteney who leapt to his defence, posting a recent photo of him to her Instagram with the hashtag #realfriends.

Meanwhile, Matthew managed to keep his sense of humour addressing the pictures during a radio interview, with a quip about how he’s “getting a manicure this morning.”

In the Friends reunion trailer, Courtney calls Matthew her “best friend”, saying: “It was an incredible time. We became best friends”, to which Matthew confesses: “Yep, I'm going to cry now.”

This is certainly one Hollywood friendship that will never end.
