Is This How William And Harry Will Treat Each Other At Dianas Statue Unveiling?

Prince Harry is back in the U.K. this week to attend the unveiling of a statue in honor of his mother, Princess Diana, per Harper’s Bazaar. Harry is set to reunite with his brother, Prince William, for the event, and all eyes will be on the siblings as they pay tribute to their late mother on what would have been her 60th birthday.

Glamour reports that the ceremony will take place on July 1 at Kensington Palace. The statue was originally commissioned by the brothers back in 2017. It was designed by Pip Morrison and sculpted by artist Ian Rank-Broadley. The event will be small and intimate with only those closest to Diana in attendance, as well as Morrison and Rank-Broadley. William and Harry are both expected to give speeches in honor of their mother during the ceremony. However, there is speculation that the widely reported tension between William and Harry could overshadow the true intention of the ceremony. Meanwhile, one royal insider is giving his take on what to expect at the statue unveiling.

William and Harry are expected to act dignified during the event

Page Six reports that Prince Harry and Prince William are expected to be civil toward one another during the unveiling of Princess Diana’s memorial statue on July 1. Sources tell the outlet that the brothers, who have been in the middle of a very public rift (via Insider), will be “dignified” while paying tribute to their beloved mother. Although one insider admitted the event could prove to be “sad and a little strained,” William and Harry are expected to put their differences aside in memory of Diana, who died in a tragic car accident in 1997. “The boys will be fine,” the informant added.

Meanwhile, Diana’s former chief of staff, Patrick Jephson, has also spoken out about the importance of the statue. “The princes were still young when they lost their mother, and the depth of emotion they feel in remembering her can only be imagined,” Jephson said. “To their credit, they have said that they hope the statue will remind us of her positive impact on the world. That’s certainly worth celebrating so, alongside sadness, we can be sure the unveiling will inspire happier feelings of love for an irreplaceable parent, and pride in her enduring legacy,” he added. Certainly, the statue will be a reminder of Diana’s contributions to the world, as well as a place where Harry, William, and their families can remember the Princess of Wales.
