Jennifer and Nayel wed in front of 300 guests in a civil ceremony on the family’s 142-acre estate in North Salem, New York, on Saturday, following a religious ceremony on Friday night.

The wedding weekend also involved a wind-down brunch, catering by renowned New York City restaurants and performances by Coldplay. Event planner Marcy Blum took the reins for the weekend.

Jennifer looked stunning as she walked down the aisle, accompanied by both Bill and Melina, in her first Vera Wang gown.

Sharing details of the dress, Wang wrote: ‘Jennifer wore a custom light ivory long sleeve A-line gown with hand appliqué French macrame lace on the bodice, sleeves and flowing onto a diaphanous light ivory and champagne Italian tulle skirt. The gown was worn with a light ivory Italian tulle chapel length veil trimmed in hand appliqué French macrame lace.’

One of the bridesmaids was seen holding up Gates’ long veil as the group gathered for pictures against the picturesque backdrop of the autumn leaves.

The reception began shortly after 4pm. Bill could be seen in a dark suit, while Melinda, was wearing a flowing purple gown.

Both Bill and Melinda – who divorced in August – posted photos from the wedding on Instagram on Monday along with messages for the happy couple

The crowd let out a big cheer shortly after 5pm as the couple were finally declared man and wife. Servers could be seen standing at the ready with celebratory glasses of champagne which were handed to guests as they passed by.

Following the ceremony, the couple made a quick getaway to have some private wedding photos taken on the estate.

The couple could be seem beaming from ear to ear as they spent their first few moments as husband and wife posing for priceless pictures on their special day.

The smiles seemed natural as the couple posed for the wedding photographers while proud parents Bill and Melinda Gates looked on with smiles and laughter.

Jennifer’s veil was stretch out from the back of her head in one portrait, while in another she cradled the head of her betrothed in her hands.

Gates wore an elegant white bridal dress while the groom wore a grey suit for the couple’s pre-wedding photos on Friday. It later emerged that the photo shoot was part of a secret Muslim wedding ceremony

Guests, meanwhile, headed into a specially constructed ‘botanical garden’ where the cocktail hour was being held.

The weather remained dry until around 6pm when a stray shower forced guests back inside, but otherwise they could be seen on a specially constructed verandah enjoying the evening with a drink in their hands.

The party continued inside, with Jennifer and her father, Bill, dancing to Elton John’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight. Guests also enjoyed a beautiful six-tier cake.

For the reception, Jennifer slipped into a slinkier dress, as Wang describes: ‘Jennifer wore a custom light ivory French macrame lace trumpet gown, lined in nude tulle, with a square neckline and embellished by hand appliqué French macrame lace on the skirt and straps.’

The outdoor wedding was held on Saturday afternoon on the family’s 142-acre estate in North Salem, New York

In an interview with Vogue that was published Monday, Jennifer – or ‘Jenn’ – said it had been ‘challenging’ planning the event through ‘the pandemic’ and while her family was ‘going through transitions.’

Her parents announced they had divorced earlier this year in one of the most expensive in history.

‘It’s been a challenging year, both collectively with the pandemic and for our families going through transitions. But our love for one another has been a constant. Being able to celebrate our wedding with our closest friends and family was a dream come true,’ she said.

Jennifer, who is in medical school, continued: ‘Planning a wedding while I was in medical school rotations and Nayel was preparing for the Olympics [he competed for Egypt] was no small feat.’

Jennifer also told Vogue she required all 300 of their wedding guests to be vaccinated and take COVID tests, she said, in order to ensure everyone’s ‘safety.’
