These blues might just bankrupt you.

After stealing the spotlight on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet in a cheeky sequined Marc Jacobs bodysuit paired with towering 8-inch platforms, Kendall Jenner stepped out in NYC Wednesday wearing a denim-inspired daytime look with a casual vibe that belied its sky-high cost.

While the 27-year-old supermodel’s Bottega Veneta pants ($6,800) appeared to be a simple pair of straight-leg jeans, they’re actually crafted from leather printed to look like the laid-back, low-priced textile.

A$AP Rocky has also been spotted sporting the deceptively luxe design.

Jenner teamed her trompe l’oeil trousers with one of the label’s leather shirts ($6,900), which was similarly printed to resemble a classic blue cotton button-up.

The reality star — who finished her look with a white tank top and Adidas Sambas ($100) — has a long history with the luxury label.

She’s been walking Bottega Veneta runways at Milan Fashion Week as far back as 2014, and regularly incorporates its popular bags, shoes and outerwear into her street style outfits.

Since taking over from former Bottega Veneta creative director Daniel Lee in 2021, Matthieu Blazy has made optical illusion leather looks a key part of his collections.

In addition to pants and oxford shirts like Jenner’s, the brand currently sells trompe l’oeil T-shirts ($3,100), polos ($5,900), argyle sweaters ($6,800) and flannels ($6,800).

Kate Moss modeled a version of the latter on Bottega’s spring 2023 catwalk, along with “jeans” like Jenner’s; according to Vogue, her plaid leather required 12 layers of prints to convincingly resemble real flannel.

“It’s this kind of casual comfort and we put it to an extreme and we call it perverse banality,” Blazy told the publication at the time.
