Over the years he has appeared in several Emmerdale spin off shows including Dingles Down Under and Paddy and Marlon's Big Night In.

“I'm not a method actor at all. But I asked them to cover all the mirrors up in make-up when they put it on.”


The actor continued: “What the viewers will see is when I see it – the first time I'd seen it. It had an impact on me.”

Mark, who has starred for Marlon for more than two decades, added that this preparation resulted in a very “real” reaction.

Emmerdale have worked closely with the Stroke Association to ensure the hard-hitting story strikes the right chord with viewers.

Mark is a private person outside of work and has never taken part in interviews about his life off screen.

However, we do know that the actor and his family live in Yorkshire with their dog Freddie.

It's believed he has a wife and they share one son but the star does not share photos of his family.

Though, he didbid an emotional farewell to an ITV colleagueon Twitter recently.

The actor reached out to Duncan Wood after it was announced that he was leaving ITV News Calendar following 19 years as the show's presenter.

Soap watchers will recall that ITV News Calendar star Duncan has made several cameos on Emmerdale over the years, starring as a reporter delivering news to the village on TV.

Mark tweeted: "Oh Duncan!!!! You’re a legend. I’m sad to hear this, but I’m very glad to have known you all these years and I’ll miss bumping into you round the building.

"You’ve always been so kind and supportive as well as being outstanding at your job. Good luck in everything, fella. X."

To which Duncan replied with: "Thanks so much Mark, it’s great to have worked alongside you and the Emmerdale gang, the best in the business. Hopefully catch up soon x."
