May bank holiday opening hours: What time does Lidl, Aldi and Sainsbury’s open?

Across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, Monday, May 3 is the next bank holiday in the UK. This date will mark the Early May bank holiday, while another bank holiday, the Spring bank holiday, will fall on Monday, May 31. Read on to find out when Lidl, Aldi and Sainsbury’s will be open over the Early May bank holiday.

Lidl

On Bank Holiday Monday, the majority of Lidl stores across England and Wales will be open from 8am to 8pm.

Lidl opening hours are as follows:

  • 8am to 9pm – Saturday, May 1
  • 10am to 4pm – Sunday, May 2
  • 8am to 8pm – Monday, May 3

Aldi

Aldi will still be open during the bank holiday weekend, the supermarket giant has confirmed.

The Aldi website explains: “Planning a great Bank Holiday weekend?

“Don’t worry, your local Aldi will be open to help you make sure you’ve got everything you need.

Our UK opening times are below, Scotland opening hours may vary.”

Aldi bank holiday opening times:

  • Saturday, May 1: 8am – 10pm
  • Sunday, May 2: 10am – 4pm
  • Monday, May 3: 8am – 8pm

Sainsbury’s

For the bank holiday weekend, Sainsbury’s has launched a deal on bottles of bubbly.

Wine, champagne and prosecco is subject to a 25 percent discount when six bottles are purchased.

The offer on alcohol runs until Sunday, May 2 and exceptions do apply.

When are the bank holidays this year?

The remaining bank holidays for England and Wales in 2021 are as follows:

  • May 3 – Early May bank holiday
  • May 31 – Spring bank holiday
  • August 30 – Summer bank holiday
  • December 27 – Christmas Day (substitute day)
  • December 28 – Boxing Day (substitute day)
