Meghan Markle Sued For $75,000 By Her Own Sister

Meghan Markle is being slammed with a defamation lawsuit by her half-sister, Samantha Markle, for what she said during the explosive interview she and Prince Harry had with Oprah. Samantha claims that her sister made “false and malicious statements” during the sit-down, and accused her of bashing their father to sell a “rags to royalty” narrative.

She wants $75,000 to make things right, and for Meghan to cover the cost of her court and attorney fees.

In the court docs, obtained by Page Six, Samantha alleges that her half-sister lied about being “an only child,” and she accuses the Suits star of fibbing about the last time they saw each other.

“The defamatory implication is that Plaintiff had no relationship whatsoever with her sister Meghan; they were virtual strangers and that Plaintiff has created a lucrative career selling false stories to tabloids and television programs when she knows nothing about Defendant’s childhood,” the filing stated.

Later in the filing, Samantha criticized her sister for her attacks on their father, Thomas Markle, claiming that Meghan did so in an attempt to sell the world a “rags-to-royalty” story, a story that she says isn’t true.

Samantha says that the claims that Meghan grew up in poverty just aren’t true and that her father funded an “elite private” education for her.

The filing states: “Meghan falsely claimed that: (a) she essentially raised herself from virtual poverty; (b) she was forced from the age of 13 to work in a series of low-paying jobs to ‘make ends meet.’”

Samantha also called out at Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s New York Times best-selling book, Finding Freedom, which she thinks is bogus and only serves to advance her sister’s “fairy tale life story. She claims the book caused “substantial and irreparable prejudice, injury, and harm” to her reputation.

Lawyers working for the Duchesses dismissed the claims, telling TMZ: “This baseless and absurd lawsuit is just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior.”

“We will give it the minimum attention necessary, which is all it deserves,” he concluded.

This isn’t the first time Samantha has come after her sister. She has attacked the Duchess during numerous interviews and last year released a book called Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister: A Memoir, Part One.
