Rugby star and Royal Family member Mike Tindall will be heading into the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle alongside a star-studded lineup of celebrities. He’ll be leaving behind his royal wife Zara Tindall, the late Queen’s eldest granddaughter, and their three children Mia, Lena and Lucas to take part in the ITV show in Australia.

Mike could be swapping his role as a podcaster and father for creepie crawlies for weeks, depending on how the public votes.

When discussing what he’ll miss most in the Australian jungle, Mike professed he’ll miss his loved ones more than anything else.

He said: “First and foremost, I will miss my family. I will miss my bed too and a nice breakfast.”

Undoubtedly, Mike’s wife, children and royal in-laws will be cheering him on as he takes on the famous Bushtucker Trials.

Mike and Zara are famed for their solid relationship, and the pair have been married since 2011.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, royal correspondent Charles Rae said being away from his family will likely be a “wrench” for Mike.

Mr Rae said: “I think Mike will cope very well in the jungle.

“Let’s not forget that he is a rufty tufty rugby player, who is very strong and determined, both mentally and physically.

“I would be surprised if he did not last well towards the end.

“We have seen how devoted he is to Zara and their three children and while I’m sure being away from them all will be a wrench, I also believe he will cope.”

Mike and Zara aren’t working royals, so they pursue their own careers without any royal funding from the Sovereign Grant.

But the pair often appear at royal events and sporting fixtures with their little family in tow.

Mr Rae added of the Tindalls’ relationship: “Mike and Zara are a well-suited couple.

“They appear to be very happy with each other and also their positions in the Royal Family.

“While they aren’t working royals, they still join in on major events as we have seen.

“I am pretty sure they are happy that they do not have the same pressures that affect other members who are further up the pole.

“Anne wanted Zara and her brother Peter to face as normal a life as possible, which has worked.

“Mike is a celebrity outside the Royal Family and clearly copes well.”

Mike appears to have a close bond with his mother-in-law Princess Anne as he lives a stones-throw away from her.

Zara and Mike have their own residence on Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, which also hosts equestrian events every year.

I’m a Celebrity 2022 starts on Sunday, November 6 at 9pm on ITV.
