A mum was left unimpressed after her ex-partner's girlfriend decided to pierce her daughter's ears without permission.

Posting on Mumsnet, the woman explained how she continued to co-parent with her former partner after their break-up.

She explained that her nine-year-old daughter spent a week away with her dad and his girlfriend which she says was "lovely".

In her post, the woman said: "Yesterday she came home and was hiding her ears behind her hair, and also looking very sheepish.

"I had her on my lap, giving her a cuddle and realised that her ears got pierced."

The mum said she remained calm and complimented her daughter on her new earrings.

But she did mention it to her ex later on the phone who was apologetic and unaware it had happened.

She added: "When I spoke to my ex later, he had no clue and he had to ask his girlfriend.

"Apparently, the GF went to the shops with my DD (darling daughter) and thought it was a nice thing for them to do together."

The mum said how she was told the earrings are also "just costume jewellery" so she has to take her to ensure the piercing is clean.

She went on: "We have never even talked about having her ears pierced, I feel that I was blindsided.

"I would have much preferred them to bond over a shopping or a fun activity, not over my child getting her ears pierced."

Luckily the woman said she's remaining positive in front of her daughter, but is sad on the inside.

Since she shared it on the online forum, many parents flooded the comments section.

One said: "I would be raising merry hell with the shop that did it for a start."

Another added: "I'd be raging. At least [your] ex is also apologetic about it."

A third claimed it was "very irresponsible" for the woman's ex and girlfriend for pulling a stunt like that.
