My girlfriend insists on putting the bins out in her underwear

DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN she puts the bins out, my girlfriend wears lacy lingerie and a silky dressing gown which leaves nothing to the imagination.

All the neighbours are talking about her and I feel awkward.

She has always been an extrovert. That is partly why I fell in love with her.

We met when she was dancing on a podium at a nightclub.

She fell off her heels, and as I saw it happen, I was quick to catch her before she face-planted the floor.

She was embarrassed so I bought her a drink and she soon felt better.

That was three years ago. She’s 28 and part of the dance team at the club. I’m 31 and know I’m punching above my weight with her.

She enjoys doing the housework in her underwear, or sometimes naked.

She says, “I’m too hot cleaning the shower and vacuuming, babe”, and if I can give her bum a pinch or give her a kiss as she squeezes past to do the ironing, it adds to the fun.

During lockdown, she was furloughed and although she still enjoyed the naked or semi-naked housework, she also started going into the kitchen naked where our neighbours can see right in.

She also started putting the bins out with little on.

It’s now like clockwork at 6.30pm on a Monday. She dresses in provocative clothing to do it and I’ve been wondering whether somebody is watching her, as it seems like a show.

My neighbour even stopped me in the street saying, “Is your girlfriend OK, mate?”

I went to buy my copy of The Sun yesterday and heard a guy at the counter talking to the shop assistant about the “naked bin lady”.

I know he was talking about my girlfriend. I feel embarrassed for her.

DEIDRE SAYS: Although you feel she has confidence by the bagful, my guess is she actually has very low self-esteem.

If she’s from a cold family background where she’s never felt worthy or valued, then any type of attention is good and feeds into that emotional void.

She’s in a job where people give positive feedback about her dances, and when she was furloughed that stopped.

Find a moment to tell her you love her and how sexy you think she is, but say you are concerned because people seem to have noticed her putting the bins out – but not necessarily in a positive way.

Explain you are concerned somebody would report her to the police for exhibitionism and you’d prefer it if she saved her sexy displays for you.

My support pack Raising Self-Esteem gives other tips on how to make her feel good about herself without having to strip off.
