Loyalty schemes including Nectar are a great way of collecting points and utilising the rewards. The scheme is the largest in the UK and comprises a number of partner companies including Sainsbury’s. In its latest deal, customers can claim free points when entering a competition.

Nectar Card holders can earn points every time they shop at Sainsbury’s, earning one point for every £1 spent in stores and online.

Customers can also get one point for every litre of fuel purchased in Sainsbury’s fuel stations as well as through hundreds of retailers.

Points can then be spent in Sainsbury’s stores as well on things like holidays, hotels and days out.

In its latest deal, customers can claim 99 free Nectar points when they enter the Esso Formula 1 competition.

This will not only give them a chance to win a Grand Prix experience at the British Grand Prix, but will also give them 99 points to be added to their Nectar account.

Deadlines for entries are May 31 and winners will be selected at random.

For those who are not yet signed up to Nectar, it is super simple and takes a matter of minutes to do so.

The app can also be downloaded on smartphone devices to keep track of all your points.

Sainsbury’s revamped its loyalty scheme in 2019 to offer shoppers weekly, personalised bonus point offers via the app and website.

These were said to be targeted around the shopping habits of every customer.

Recently, Sainsbury’s phased out the weekly bonus offers leaving shoppers confused over missing points.

Taking to social media to share their thoughts, many complained about the missing offers.

One person said: “@nectar, have Sainsbury’s offers retired? I haven’t had any for two weeks.”

Another wrote: “@nectar, why have I not got any new offers on the app these past two weeks?”

One shopper tweeted: “I am furious @nectar, the offers are usually really helpful, why are they missing?”

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s, which owns Nectar, said: “We regularly review the promotions available through our Nectar app to ensure customers are always receiving personalised, valuable offers.

“As part of this process, some offers may be currently unavailable for a small number of customers and we apologise for any inconvenience.”

In other news, Morrisons also recently revamped its loyalty scheme from More Card to MyMorrisons.

According to the supermarket, the instant rewards based scheme will be accompanied by a brand new app which will replace the need to carry a plastic card.

The retailer has also said that the offers will be personalised and based on what shoppers typically buy each week.

Waseem Haq, Head of Digital Marketing at Morrisons, said: “The launch of My Morrisons enables us to make good things happen for our customers, rewarding them with instant offers every time they shop at Morrisons.

“Over the last 12 months, we have seen more and more of our customers use our apps and online services and are so excited to be launching the new My Morrisons app today for customers.”
