Rachel Platten announces pregnancy on ‘The Talk’

Rachel Platten is adding another verse to her “Baby Song.”

“Fight Song” scribe Platten, 39, revealed her second pregnancy on “The Talk” Tuesday, telling the show’s hosts, “I realized when I got asked to do the show today, I was like, I haven’t announced this yet. I guess I’m going to have to announce this. So, this is my announcement!”

The show’s hosts provided Platten with her first official baby gift — “The second baby, everybody always says, ‘Oh, you’re fine, you have everything,’” Platten joked — which, was, natch, a “Talk” onesie.

“That is so, so meaningful,” Platten said. “I appreciate it.”

Platten also opened up about undergoing therapy with her husband of nearly 11 years, Kevin Lazan.

“I have actually found that getting to spend now more time with him in quarantine, and like realizing that, oh dang, we don’t have separate space, like, we really have to confront some of these issues,” Platten said.

“First of all, therapy, couples therapy has helped with that. But second of all, I don’t want to meet in the middle with him. I actually love that he balances me, and he grounds me.”

Platten and Lazan, who married in July 2010 — though Platten said Tuesday the couple had been together for 15 years overall — welcomed their first child, a daughter named Violet Skye Lazan, in January 2019.

Platten’s debut single, “Fight Song,” came out in February 2015. It eventually became the official anthem for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
