Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis and other celebs celebrate Mother’s Day

For stars like Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis and even Vice President Kamala Harris, this Mother’s Day was all about celebrating the strong women that raised them. Other A-listers like Blake Lively and Katherine Schwarzenegger were honored by their husbands for raising their children. For model Kate Upton, the holiday was a chance to share what being a mother means to her.

Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds

“I see you in the eyes of our children… Every laugh. Every blink and every thoughtful moment of vulnerability,” Reynolds, 44, wrote in a sweet message on Instagram dedicated to Lively, 33.

Viola Davis

“My love. My mommy. The sacrificer,” Davis, 55, wrote alongside several photos of her mother, Mary Alice. “I am because of you,” she said simply.

Reese Witherspoon

“The original Mama Bear who taught me to be fierce and loving,” Witherspoon, 45, wrote about her mom. “I love that I can always count on her for a great laugh and the best mothering advice.”

Ryan Dorsey

On the first Mother’s Day since her passing, Ryan Dorsey thanked his late ex-wife, Naya Rivera, for giving birth to their son, Josey. “We can’t say the word happy,” he captioned a photo of the two together, “but we’ll say thank you for being a mother & giving me this sweet amazing boy.”

Kamala Harris

“My mother, Shyamala Gopalan, came from India to the U.S. to become a scientist,” the Vice President shared on Instagram, adding, “I am forever grateful to her, and all mothers who love us, raise us, and inspire us.” The holiday marked her first Mother’s Day in the White House.

Chris Pratt & Katherine Schwarzenegger

“This is your first year as a mom, your third year as a stepmom, and 31st year as a hot momma,” Schwarzengger’s husband, actor Chris Pratt, captioned a candid snap of his wife on Mother’s Day.

Kate Upton

“Being a mom is, and forever will be, my greatest accomplishment,” Upton wrote to her followers on Instagram. “I’m so proud to be your mom, Vivi. 💕 Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there!”

Mark Ruffalo

Ruffalo offered an appreciation of his wife by posting a cute collection of family snaps and a simple, “Happy Mother’s Day, Sunrise.”

Mandy Moore

“I am ever so grateful to have joined the magical club of motherhood,” Moore wrote alongside a series of shots of her and her new son August, whom she and husband Taylor Goldsmith welcomed in February. “It’s the privilege of my life to be your mom, Goosey. The past 11 weeks have unlocked a love so immediate — one I never knew possible.”
