Rob Gronkowski Says He and Tom Brady Celebrated Their NFC Win with a Hug: 'This Is a Dream'

Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady hugged it out after making it to the Super Bowl together, once again.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Green Bay Packers last Sunday in the NFC Championship, 31-26. After their victory, Gronkowski called into The Late Late Show with James Corden and opened up about how he and his longtime teammate celebrated.

"We just gave each other a big hug and said, 'This is what it's all about. This is why we came down here. This is, you know, a dream,' " Gronk told Corden via video chat. "All the work we put in — we knew we had to put a lot of work in — and just coming to an organization that was ready for success. A lot of great players on this team, a lot of great coaches."

Gronkowski, 31, came out of retirement following several seasons with the New England Patriots to join Tampa Bay in April 2020, a month after Brady revealed he was also leaving the Massachusetts team to sign with the Buccaneers.

Continued Gronkowski in the interview this week, "We just gave each other a big hug and said, 'Man, we're doing it. We're doing it big. And it's for real. We're going to the Super Bowl. We came down to Tampa, man. Let's finish it off.' "

Gronkowski told Corden that deciding to come out of retirement to move to the Florida team was a no-brainer.

He explained, "To go play with Tom again, the opportunity was just presentable … I just felt like it was right to go down there and play."

"And now to get here, we're going to the Super Bowl, this is what it's all about. Obviously, we came down here to go all the way. But, to go all the way this quickly the first year, it's just unbelievable, man."

Super Bowl LV, which will feature Tampa Bay versus the Kansas City Chiefs, marks Brady's 10th Super Bowl appearance and Gronkowski's sixth, all of which were during the duo's tenure with the Patriots prior to joining the Buccaneers last year.

Super Bowl LV is scheduled for Feb. 7 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay.
