Scooter Braun says he’s “sad” about how his acquisition of Taylor Swift’s master recordings went over with the singer.

In a new profile for Variety, the 40-year-old music mogul maintained he offered Swift every opportunity to buy back her masters.

“I regret and it makes me sad that Taylor had that reaction to the deal. … All of what happened has been very confusing and not based on anything factual. I don’t know what story she was told,” Braun told the trade publication.

“I asked for her to sit down with me several times, but she refused. I offered to sell her the catalog back and went under NDA, but her team refused. It all seems very unfortunate.”

Swift said in November 2020 that Braun requested she sign an NDA that would “silence” her “forever.”

“My legal team said that this is absolutely NOT normal, and they’ve never seen an NDA like this presented unless it was to silence an assault accuser by paying them off,” she said after learning that Braun unloaded her masters to an investment fund 17 months after acquiring them.

Braun’s team vehemently has denied the “All Too Well” singer’s claims.

Braun emphasized the importance of “open communication” to Variety and said all of his and the 31-year-old “My Tears Ricochet” singer’s conversations before the deal “were friendly and kind.”

“I find her to be an incredibly talented artist and wish her nothing but the best,” Braun said.

When Braun, who manages pop powerhouses such as Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, first acquired her masters, Swift said she was “grossed out.“

“Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy,” Swift wrote in the lengthy Tumblr post. “Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

Swift, who is re-recording her first six albums, later appeared to admit to Vogue that she didn’t try to buy back her masters.

“It was either investing in my past or my and other artists’ future, and I chose the future,” Swift said.
