A small business owner's "shopping theft warning" backfired when she inadvertently revealed a way to steal clothes using AirTags.
Kim, who owns a fashion boutique in Chicago, tried to remind her fellow business pals to beware of a new type of theft.
So she went onto TikTok to show them how young people commit crime these days.

"Keeping an eye out for the AirTag trash thefts!" Kim said.
Posing as a customer, Kim first places her Apple AirTag in a black plastic bag and walks to a clothing rack to pick up a few shorts.
She pulls them off the hangers and drops them into the plastic bag.
Then she heads to a bin inside the shop and drops them like rubbish.
To avoid looking suspicious, she picks up a bikini top and pays for it.
But as soon as Kim leaves the shop, she stays around and checks on her phone for the movement of her AirTag.
Once the pin moves outside the shop, Kim runs to the location, in this case, a bin by the roadside, and retrieves her tracking device.
That means, she also got the clothes without paying a dime for them.
To warn people to be aware of this new "hack", Kim said: "Stop being so trashy!"
However, people saw it as a "smart idea" to steal clothes.
One wrote: "This is actually so smart! Your tips are good!"
"Haha, am I smelling a new idea?" another added.
But others said they wouldn't risk putting an AirTag in the trash to hope that it's retrievable.
A person asked; "But like what are the chances that they’ll throw out the trash the same day or before closing and wouldn't it go to like one of those bigger dumpsters?"
Kim did not respond to the questions but shared other hacks thieves have been practising.
