The royal looked typically elegant in a full length blue Bruce Oldfield Couture gown which featured sheer lace sleeves which she paired with her show-stopping jewels.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are also in attendance at tonight’s event. Catherine, 40, looked radiant in red as she donned a glitzy sequin gown.

Tonight was the first time the Diplomatic Corps reception, which sees up to 2,000 guests descend on the palace, has been held since 2019 because of the Covid pandemic.

The reception, which usually takes place annually, sees the monarch invite the diplomatic corps to an event in the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace.

The reception celebrates the presence in London of one of the largest diplomatic corps in the world and sees the King and Queen meet representatives of countries accredited to the Court of St. James.

The last reception for the diplomatic corps was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in December 2019.

Tonight’s event comes after the Prince and Princess of Wales looked loved up as ever in heart-warming behind-the-scenes Instagram snaps taken at this year’s Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in Boston.

Earlier today it was revealed that the King and Queen Consort would join the Princess of Wales for her annual carol service at Westminster Abbey on the same day as the second instalment of Harry and Meghan’s documentary airs on Netflix in a show of solidarity.

Kensington Palace announced today that King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla and Prince William will attend the Carol service organised by mother-of-three Kate Middleton on Thursday, December 15 – which will take place hours after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ‘s £88 million docuseries is dropped on the streaming platform.

The announcement comes a day after the second trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan’s documentary – which experts have predicted will delve into the early days of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship – was released.
