The availability of ready meals and takeaways have made many of us less creative with our cooking, but these images prove meal times don’t have to be boring.

Bored Panda has rounded up a selection of retro recipes from around the world that have gone viral because of their unusual combination of ingredients and overall appearance – including a cook book that advises serving a lamb chop tandoori with mango chutney in a wine glass.

Among the amusing images is also an advert by Hellmann’s Mayonnaise from the 1960s that tries to convince people to serve their cranberry salad with a candle in the centre.

Another photo shows a selection of meat carefully placed to resemble a pig when served.
