When are Tesco Easter delivery slots released?

IF you’re wanting to get a big shop in for the Easter holidays, it might be a good idea to book a delivery slot.

With the nation still under lockdown, many Brits are turning to online deliveries to avoid the shops, so you might want to think about booking one soon.

But when can you book a slot at Tesco? We explain all you need to know.

When will Tesco’s Easter delivery slots be available?

Tesco has confirmed to The Sun that shoppers who are signed up to the supermarket’s Delivery Saver service will be able to book Easter delivery slots from today.

This service means customers can sign up from £3.49 a month to get their groceries delivered to their home.

If you spend more under the Delivery Saver service than you could have done on normal deliveries, Tesco will email you a coupon to match the difference.

If you want to sign up to the service, you won’t be able to at the moment.

Tesco isn’t taking new customers on board so it can support existing and vulnerable customers during the Covid crisis as demand for deliveries soars.

We’ve asked Tesco when new customers will be able to sign up for the service, and we’ll let you know as soon as we know more.

All other customers not on the Delivery Saver plan will be able to book Easter delivery slots from March 15.

Delivery fees cost between £4.50 and £5.50 at Tesco depending on where your order is fulfilled by either a supermarket or warehouse.

There's also a £4 surcharge for deliveries worth under £40

Will I be able to get a slot?

Tesco has upped the number of delivery slots available per week to 1.5million – more than double what it offered before the Covid lockdown.

The supermarket is prioritising vulnerable customers for deliveries, and you can only order one slot per week.

But slots could be in high demand over the Easter break, and shoppers might want consider booking their slot soon to avoid disappointment.

In the run up to Easter last year, Tesco’s boss pleaded with shoppers to leave delivery slots to the elderly and vulnerable.

CEO Dave Lewis sent an email out to customers on March 25 stating online deliveries were at full capacity for the following weeks as slots ran out at an unprecedented rate.

However, Tesco has more slots this Easter than ever before, so you’ll have a better chance at bagging one.

The supermarket has also employed tens of thousands of temporary staff to help it cope with a spike in demand over the latest Covid lockdown.

What happens if I can’t get a slot?

You can still shop in store or use Tesco’s click and collect service if you miss out on a delivery slot.

If you want to shop in store, you can check out where your nearest Tesco store is using its locator tool.

We’ve asked Tesco whether its opening hours could vary this year over the Easter break, and we will update you as soon as we can.

Last year, Superstores and Metro stores in England and Wales were open from 8am to 6pm.

In Northern Ireland, Tesco Extras were open from 10am to 7pm, in Scotland, Tesco Extra Superstores were open from 8am to 8pm, and all Express convenience stores were open usual hours.

If you want to use Tesco’s click and collect service, it will cost you £1.50 and there’s a surcharge for orders worth less than £25.
