When I was consumed with grief you helped me see the light | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: DEALING with one loss after another had driven me to breaking point.

After suffering a miscarriage, my beloved father died, and then my  boyfriend told me he wanted to break up with me.

At 35, I felt bereft, confused and very alone. It was all too much to bear.

I wrote to you in desperation, Deidre, hoping you could help me to climb out of a deep well of despair.

You sent me your support pack, Bereavement, which really helped me, and recommended I reach out to a counsellor.

You also gave me some contact details for the Miscarriage Association (miscarriageassociation.org.uk, 01924 200 799) and advised me to contact my GP if my depression didn’t lift.

I was able to confide in you in a way I hadn’t with any of either family or friends.

And just knowing you cared really helped and meant so much.

I got referred to a counsellor and, slowly, things have started to improve.

Thank you.
