A 51-year-old claims she's been turned down by the NHS for a breast reduction twice despite having “enormous boobs” too big to fit into even fit K cup bras.

Gemma Lock, from Sheffield, says she has been rejected because of her weight.

Despite losing more than 5st recently and now fitting into a size 18, doctors say her BMI is still too high to qualify.

Gemma, who works as a therapist and artist, claims her breasts make her feel “unattractive” and they make it impossible to find clothes that fit.

She also says she receives abuse from men and has people staring at her for not wearing a bra despite them not fitting.

So she is raising funds to get breast reduction surgery abroad, a move which will finally let her “live her best life”.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Gemma explained: “During the pandemic, I hit a point where I lost 5st. I can get into smaller-sized clothing at a size 18 but my boobs are still enormous.

“I got bigger over the years, they got bigger. They were C-cup when I was in uni but they don’t seem to have gone down.

“My BMI is 39. You need to be a BMI of 27 to have a reduction on the NHS.

“I would need to lose another six stones. I think I could do with losing more weight but six stone is ridiculous. I don't think that's achievable.”

Gemma believes having a reduction will not only help her confidence but also her health – finally freeing her to do things like ‘jogging’.

“I don’t put any effort into my appearance, I don’t think about it,” she continued.

“I disappear and blend in. If I had a more manageable clothes size that I could buy from shops I can make more effort with my appearance and also help my confidence and health. At the moment I don’t feel attractive they get in the way.”

Posting on her GoFundMe page, she continued: “Hey, my boobs are enormous; enough is enough, I lost 5st, and they still refused to fit into a K cup (the largest size you can buy).

“I have applied twice to the NHS as I have all five reasons for needing a breast reduction, but they have refused.

“So, wanting to live my best life, I boldly, with trepidation, decided to take matters into my own hands! I want to be able to jog and buy shop clothes!

“My enormous boobs get in the way of me feeling attractive or putting any effort into my appearance; nothing fits!

“Surgery abroad will cost around £3,000 or £8,000 in the UK, and this is what I am fundraising for. I'd love to give a piece of art in exchange for donating, and happy to take commissions.”
