Work sent me home over "distracting" outfit – but I dont see the problem

A woman joked she was "sent home" from work on her first day over her revealing outfit.

The employee, who works for fast fashion giant Fashion Nova, was filmed walking into an office in a fitted black mini dress with large cut-out patterns that barely covered her modesty.

"Guys it's my first day working at Fashion Nova and I got sent home for my outfit," she said.

"I don't see what's the problem, I'm going to talk to HR."

A man behind the camera then tells her: "I'm sorry you still can't wear that…it's too revealing and it's distracting."

She then raises her eyebrows and asks: "It's distracting?"

The clip was posted on Fashion Nova's official Facebook account, suggesting it was a joke, and included a link to the dress in the caption with the comment: "What's the problem? Send help!"

It sparked debate among fashion lovers with many noticing that it appeared to be a satire clip to help promote the dress.

"Fashion Nova posted this – if this was real, do you think they would be the ones posting it? Come on," one wrote.

Another said: "Satire as f***, ain't nobody wearing that to work unless you work in a strip club."

"She got that dress from Fashion Nova and Fashion Nova is posting this, this is a skit guys," a third remarked.

But some said the office attire rules still apply to fashion companies.

A person commented: "Just because they sell it doesn't mean they need you to wear it in corporate. It's very cute but just not for work. You don't see Victoria's Secret employees walking around in lingerie."

"You're at a corporate office, not a bottle girl at the club," a second commented.

And one asked: "What kind of question is that? Of course it's distracting. You're there to work and you are here trying to have a fashion show.

"You look amazing, but let's be real."
