‘You can control your dreams’, says expert as she shares way to do it

An expert has insisted you can control your dreams if you put your mind to do.

Many people have become interested in dream controlling after watching Netflix's new hit mini-series Behind Her Eyes.

The show follows Louise, a single mum with a son and a part-time job in a psychiatrist's office. She begins an affair with her boss, David, and strikes up an unlikely friendship with his wife Adele.

As well as the cheating drama, the show also explores the topics of lucid dreams and astral projection.

A lucid dream is a type of dream where the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming.

During these lucid dream, the dreamer may gain some amount of control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment.

But can you actually control your dreams?

Estella, a psychic reader at Psychic Sofa spoke to Daily Star to give her view.

She told us: "I do believe that you can have a certain amount of control over your dreams as often a lucid dream makes you aware that you are in fact dreaming.

"From this, you can take control of the environment you find yourself in, change situations, or circumstances and alter anything that you find positive or indeed negative."

She added: "In fact, it may feel like you can take total control over whatever it is that is happening to you in this state of being."

Estella says on average around 11% of people experience lucid dreams a couple of times a month.

In general, it is also believed that half of the population of people have a lucid dream at some point in their lives.

Talking about controlling these dreams, she continued: "It is something that I feel we can control in many ways if we put our minds to it.

"Dreams can often feel so real when we are in them and it is only when we wake up that we realise we were actually dreaming.

"Often a repeating nightmare can happen and that is when controlling dreams can come into effect so if you happen to remember having the same/similar dream on more than one occasion, it is then a time to focus on changing the scenario before you go into a deep sleep and be able to take control of your own direction to your own advantage."
