You can now get married at Selfridges

Ever dreamed of getting married in your favourite department store?

If so, you’re in luck.

This summer, Selfridges will launch its very own wedding service.

Yep, the London store has now acquired a wedding licence, which means that wedding ceremonies will be able to be hosted in the Grade II listed building on Oxford Street.

Be warned: this is only on offer for a limited time this year, as a way to bring people together again and celebrate love after a year of lockdowns.

There will be three micro-wedding packages available: Just-The-Two-Of-Us, Earth Lovers, and All-Out Extraordinary, all taking place in a dedicated wedding suite on the fourth floor of Selfridges London.

Shall we break down the different packages?

The Just-The-Two-Of-Us package is aimed at those ‘seeking a small and understated ceremony’ for just the couple and a maximum of two guests. Along with the actual wedding bit, you also get beauty and grooming appointments, a wedding breakfast hamper to enjoy in the morning, and a reception in the VIP screening room at The Cinema at Selfridges, so you can sit back and watch a film of your choice.

The Earth-Lovers option is, as the name suggests, very eco-conscious. Selfridges will offer a sustainability-focused wedding for the couple and a maximum of 20 guests.

Ahead of the big day, you’ll have a Resellfridges appointment to find a vintage or rented wedding outfit, then follow your ceremony with a locally-sourced three-course meal at the Brasserie of Light, complete with organic wine and Champagne.

Finally, there’s the All-Out Extraordinary package, which is for a ‘once-in-a-lifetime celebration’.

This package lets you marry in a super dressed up Wedding Suite in front of 20 guests, officiated by drag icon Jonny Woo. After that, you’ll have a three-course meal in a private dining room, followed by a DJ set from the store’s in-house talent. Fancy.

As part of all this wedding excitement, Selfridges is also doing a wedding takeover of The Corner Shop, which will sell vintage and pre-owned womenswear, menswear, and accessories for the wedding party, guests, and the couple.

The Wedding Shop will offer bespoke gift lists and dedicated services, from wedding day makeovers and styling appointments to custom-made floral arrangements and canapés.

Rebecca Warburton, Selfridges director of events and customer experiences, said: ‘For those looking for a truly unique way to get married this summer, we’re excited to launch weddings at Selfridges.

‘Bringing together some of our amazing experiences, we can’t wait to create custom packages in celebration of people’s love for each other.’

We fully expect to see all the London cool crowd booking in ceremonies sharpish.
