You need to see Lady Amelia Windsor with a ‘modern Renaissance’ hair makeover

In unexpected hair makeover news of the week, Lady Amelia Windsor – cousin to Prince Harry and Prince William – has switched up her usual sleek, model-esque tresses for something a little bit more regal and intricate.

Inspired by tapestry (yes, you read that right), the look features a six-strand woven ponytail, created by hairstylist Lilia Mullinger for a jewellery photoshoot with brand Salome.

“Modern Renaissance vibes btw,” Lilia captions the video showing off Amelia’s look. “Hair was inspired by tapestry and styled into a six-strand weave ponytail. My fabulous assistant@laurengarfittmakeupdid lots of tight curls using a chopsticks curling wand, was then brushed out and sprayed with lots of dry texture spray.”

The tapestry style might be a little challenging for us all to recreate at home, but it is impressive to see on Amelia. What does seem a tad more achievable for those of us looking to copy the 27 year old’s Renaissance look is her glowy, blusher-heavy makeup, helpfully detailed by Lilia in the caption.

@glossier puff cloud paint mixed with @charlottetilbury beauty light wand in ‘spotlight’ on eyes, cheekbones and lips for a modern romantic look,” she explains.

If you fancy shopping these products, you can pick up the Glossier Cloud Paint for£17 hereand Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Light Wandhere for £29. The latter product is usually completely sold out online, so we’d recommend snapping one up while it’s in stock.

Though we can’t say tapestry hair is a trend we’re expecting to take off this A/W22, “modern Renaissance” hair has been having a moment since March when copper and red colours started to rise in popularity – largely, we think, off the back of Bridgerton’s success.

Zoë Irwin, John Frieda salon creative director, describes the colour as: “A very softened red shade with a golden tone, rather than a bold or bright pigment. The palette your colourist can use to create just the right soft copper or red for you is almost endless. If they match it perfectly to you, your eyes will pop and it will look super flattering on all skin tones.”

Perhaps a copper tint is quite enough Renaissance for us this season, then. We’ll leave the tapestry to the models.
