BTS: V Will Not Perform Choreography During BTS' 'Permission to Dance On Stage' Virtual Concert Due to Injury

On Oct. 24, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS will put on a virtual concert called “Permission to Dance On Stage.” Hours before the concert was set to begin, Big Hit Music announced on Weverse that V will not perform choreography during the concert because of an injury.

BTS will perform an online concert called ‘Permission to Dance On Stage’

Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, BTS had to cancel their planned 2020 Map of the Soul Tour. In October 2020, the band put on a two-day virtual concert event called “Map of the Soul ON:E” to bring the Map of the Soul era to a close.

During the height of the pandemic, BTS released an album titled BE and multiple English-language singles called “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance.”

To give fans an opportunity to see these songs performed, BTS are putting on an online concert called “Permission to Dance On Stage.”

Following the online concert, BTS will hold four in-person concerts called Permission to Dance On Stage – LA. The concerts will take place on Nov. 27, Nov. 28,  Dec. 1, and Dec. 2 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

V of BTS will not be able to dance during the band’s virtual show

Before soundcheck for “Permission to Dance On Stage” began, Big Hit Music shared an announcement on the fan community platform Weverse. In the announcement, Big Hit Music let ARMY know that V of BTS will not be able to dance during the “Permission to Dance On Stage” concert.

“Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We would like to provide the following information regarding the performance of BTS member V as part of today’s ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE,’” Big Hit Music wrote at the beginning of the announcement.

The label went on to explain that upon recommendation from medical professionals, V will not perform choreography while on stage during the concert.

“V experienced pain in his calf muscles during rehearsal on the evening of October 23, and visited a nearby hospital for examination and treatment. It was the opinion of the medical personnel that while there was no issue affecting the bones in his legs, he should refrain from vigorous movement such as choreography or stage performance for the time being,” read the Weverse post.

V of BTS will stay ‘seated’ during the concert

Even though V will not be able to dance during “Permission to Dance On Stage,” the BTS singer will still perform during the concert. In the Weverse post, Big Hit Music shared that V will stay “seated” while he is on stage.

“While the artist himself strongly wished to participate in the performance in full, our company has decided to follow physician advice and minimize V’s movements during today’s ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE,’” Big Hit Music wrote. “As a result, V will take part in the performance while seated and without choreography. We ask for your understanding.”

The Weverse post concluded, “We will continue to place the highest priority on the health and safety of our artists, and strive to ensure that all the members of BTS can meet their fans in full health. Thank you.”
