Ellen DeGeneres has had a successful career on our TV screens since having her own talk show and sitcom in the 90s.

The TV host has starred in her own sitcom Ellen from 1994 to 1998 and hosted her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show since 2003.

However after 19 season the comedian is ending her talk show as she admitted she "needs something new to challenge me."

Ellen who has won 30 Emmy Awards has also acted in many films as well as voiced animated movies including Finding Nemo and Finding Dory.

She has also hosted many award ceremonies including the Grammy Awards, Academy Awards and Primetime Emmys.

Now the Daily Star takes an exclusive look into her incredible career and life as she celebrates her 64th birthday on January 26.

Oscar Selfie

Ellen is know for winning and hosting several award shows but during the 2014 Oscars she broke records by sharing one of the most retweeted photos of the year.

The star wanted snaps at the event with celebs such as Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and many more.

However she managed to gain a selfie with all of them in which little did these Hollywood stars know at the time, it would become the most shared snap on Twitter that year.

The talk show host joked alongside everyone beaming at the camera: "If only Bradley's arm was longer. Best photo ever, #oscars."

Famous feuds

Ellen has interviewed some of the most famous stars on the planet including Meghan Markle, Friends actress Jennifer Aniston, singer Justin Bieber and reality royalty the Kardashians.

She has even had the former President of the Unites States Barack Obama on her show.

However, she has caused some feuds after speaking to some celebrities.

Last year, Caitlyn Jenner opened up about her infamous interview with Ellen on her talk show in 2015.

Caitlyn who appeared on the show right after coming out as transgender didn't expect Ellen to "respond the way she did" when asking question and revealed how she has "never" received an apology for it.

Ellen has also caused celebs to feel awkward on the show including Justin Bieber while asking him about his love life as she pulled up nude paparazzi photos of him.

The questions caused him to ask her: "Why are you putting me on the spot like this? Gosh."

In 2012, Taylor Swift appeared on the talk show alongside Zac Efron where the topic of conversation steered onto her personal life.

Taylor kept tight lipped and refused to tell Ellen anything, however when the host bought up a slideshow of men the singer was no impressed.

She said: "This makes me feel so bad about myself. Every time I come up here, you put a different dude up there on the screen, and it makes me really question what I stand for as a human being."

In 2019, actress Dakota Johnson turned the tables on Ellen after the host tried to call her out for not inviting her to her birthday.

However, the actress quickly retaliated telling her and viewers: "That's not the truth."

Ellen was left red-faced as her production team confirmed she had indeed been invited to the party but she hadn't shown up because she was "out of town".

Net worth

Ellen has a massive net worth from hosting multiple shows which have made her a household name, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen's Game of Games, Little Big Shots and Ellen's Next Great Designer.

She also endorses several products from PetSmart and Bed, Bath & Beyond and is a writer, producer and actress.

She is estimated to be worth a massive $490 million (£362m) in 2021 and in 2020, was named number 12 on Forbes Magazine's list of highest-paid celebrities in the world with an income of $84 million (£62m).

Robbery

In 1997, Ellen came out as a lesbian and is now married to Australian-American businesswoman and actress Portia de Rossi.

The two met at a party in 2000 but didn't start dating until 2004.

They later tied the knot in 2008.

The couple live in their £21 million mansion in Montecito, Santa Barbara County, California which was "burgled" in 2020.

The 64-year-old who has neighbours such as Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry and Meghan had high-value jewellery and watchers stolen.

According to The Sun, the local sheriff said they believe the crime was an "inside job" and that the community did not need to worry.
