Prince Harry breaks silence on ‘tainted’ relationship with tragic Caroline Flack

Prince Harry has described his relationship with Caroline Flack as "tainted" as he spoke openly about their romance for the first time.

Harry and Caroline dated briefly in 2009 after the pair met one another through a group of mutual friends while they enjoyed a night out in London.

In the past, Caroline had remained relatively tight-lipped about their relationship in her autobiography, Storm in a C Cup as she detailed the toll it took on her.

However, despite Caroline being one of the biggest names in TV during her career, Harry, 38, recalls having no idea who the late presenter was.

In leaked excerpts of his memoir Spare, which is due to be released on January 10, he said that the pair met just months after he and his long-term girlfriend Chelsy Davy split up from one another.

"She wasn't taken aback that I didn't recognise her," he recalled in the explosive publication, before going on to describe her as "funny", "sweet", and "cool".

The dad-of-two wrote: "Very soon after they papped me and Flack, those photos set off a frenzy, within hours a mob was camped outside Flack's parents' house, and all her friends’ houses, and her grandparents' house."

Harry added that Caroline was described as his "bit of rough" because she once worked in a factory, which angered him and led him to think "I thought, are we really such a country of insufferable snobs?"

Despite the intense attention surrounding their romance, Caroline and Harry continued to see one another on and off as they enjoyed the company of one another.

However, their relationship soon came to an end with Harry recalling: "The relationship was tainted, irredeemably, and in time we realise it just wasn't worth the grief and harassment. Especially for her family. Goodbye, we said. Goodbye and good luck."

Harry was later left devastated after being dealt with the news that Caroline had tragically taken her own life in February 2020 after facing a trial for allegedly assaulting her fiancé, Lewis Burton.

He remembers feeling "so awful for her family", claiming they had "all suffered for her moral sin" of dating the grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Caroline was tragically found dead at her home in Stoke Newington, north London aged 40.

A lawyer for the Flack family confirmed that the presenter had taken her own life and was found by a close friend who had been staying with her in the lead-up to her tragic death.
