Adolf Hitler was a ‘junkie with ruined veins’ after meth and cocaine injections

If Adolf Hitler was as teetotal as the Nazi Party claimed then the evil dictator certainly made up for it with his use of drugs.

The evil fascist dictator who ruled Germany from 1933 to 1945, appeared from the outside to treat his body like a temple by adopting a vegetarian diet and abstaining from alcohol.

But his lifestyle choices have since been exposed as not being quite as wholesome as the Nazi party portrayed.

An ally of Hitler's said in 1930: “He is all genius and body. And he mortifies that body in a way that would shock people like us! He doesn’t drink, he practically only eats vegetables, and he doesn’t touch women,” German writer Norman Ohler reports.

The New York Times published in 1937: "It is well known that Hitler is a vegetarian and does not drink or smoke."

"A life-long vegetarian at table, Hitler's kitchen plots are both varied and heavy in produce," it was written in a 1938 Homes & Gardens magazine.

Hitler's dietary preferences weighs up with his party's quest to establish a master 'Aryan' race, through by promoting health-conscious policies.

His personal food-tester later confirmed that everything she ate – to ensure it was free of poison – was vegetarian.

Accounts however suggest the führer was not entirely committed to the no-meat diet he claimed to have grown up with.

Only after the Second World War did he lay off the likes of stuffed squab, Bavarian sausages and caviar according to John Toland's 1976 biography.

Post-1937 Hitler decided to quit all meat other than liver dumplings, said the wife of a party ally.

Yet just as his vegetarianism kicked on a gear, the dictator allegedly began to develop a drug habit which ranged from injections of oxycodone, methamphetamine, morphine, and cocaine.

In his 2016 book Blitzed, Norman Ohler has Hitler down as "an absolute junkie with ruined veins by the time he retreated to the last of his bunkers," The Guardian reports.

Even the Nazi's successful invasion of France in 1940, has been attributed to soldiers taking meth beforehand.

Hitler's trusted physician, Dr Morell had been injecting Hitler with vitamins for years until the mass murderer fell seriously ill in 1941 and they no longer had any effect.

Animal hormones were next on the menu for the notorious vegetarians before a whole series of ever stronger medications led to using the 'wonder drug' Eukodal.

Quickly becoming an addict of heroin's close cousin – now known as oxycodone – intended to induce a euphoric state, Hitler was receiving injections of Eukodal several times a day.

Ohler said that he eventually combined it with twice daily doses of the high grade cocaine he had originally been prescribed for an ear problem.

The author added that a dose of cocaine up the nose in September 1944, almost stopped stopped his breathing.
