Book Cornwall summer holidays NOW says tourist boss – or risk missing out

BRITS who want a Cornwall holiday with friends and family this summer are being urged to book it now.

Visit Cornwall boss Malcom Bell warned anyone planning to visit the region may not have much choice unless they book sooner rather than later.

He told Sun Online Travel: "Half term [bookings are] looking good and summer is very good on bookings.

"If you want to get what you want, book as early as possible.

"Lots of booking were carried over from last year so start doing research now.

"If it's your big holiday with the family, certainly [book] before the end of February, if not earlier to get what you really want."

He also warned that while foreign holidays are likely to be back on this year, this will lead to expensive trips abroad – especially as many destinations may not be able to handle the influx.

He continued: "There is a lot of demand and overseas won't be able to cope, not just with [Brits] but with Germany as well.

"I daresay parts of Italy, Greece and France will be very busy and costs might go up."

Thankfully, he said that this summer in Cornwall is likely to be much more like normal, after last year holidaymakers complained of high prices and busy pubs.

Mr Bell said: "People are now thinking this could be a variation of a normal year.

"Before we had challenges during peak weeks due to the sheer number we had down here.

"It will be a variation of 2018 or 2019, nothing like 2020 or 2021.

"People are feeling more confident as systems are now in – you can now book ahead, improvements at ordering at pub etc."

Despite travel restrictions being eased, staycations are already booming as Brits opt for another holiday in the UK this year.
